Hi everyone, this is it! I finally got the guts to share my work with the outside world. First let me introduce myself : my name is Jeremie Merlin, I am 29, I'm french, married with no kids. I live in a small city near Geneva and I'm particle physicist working at CERN.
Yep, that's me |
Ok that's all for the boring part, let's talk about painting now! So I started painting when I was a kid, I'd say 11 or 12. Someday I went to a library and found this super cool magazine from GW about the Lord Of The Ring wargame. It was sold for nothing, like 99 cents, and it included few goblins, two or three pots of paint, a brush and of course plenty of great pictures showing fantastically painted minis and huge landscapes. So the following month I bought the second magazine, and then the third one after that, and then .... well, you know what I mean. During the next 2 years I basically acquired a decent collection and I followed on a regular basis the painting tutorials from the books. I was of course too young to really devote myself to the hobby but this first experience gave me the basic knowledge: thin coats (yes of course!), dry brushing, washes, color scheme consistency etc... But more importantly it printed somewhere in my mind the words "I LOVE PAINTING MINIS".
This is the very very first miniature I ever painted. I'm so glad I kept it in a safe place, this is priceless to me. |
After that I basically stopped painting for a while, I became a teenager with more interest in girls than in Citadel paints and then I had to move here and there to complete my studies. I came back to the hobby few years ago after I got a stable job and a nice place where to setup my paint station.
In this blog I'll try to show you what I do and how I do it. I'm planning to regularly post my work progress, step-by-step tutorials and hopefully good quality video tutorials (working on it). I am not a super great painter but I have spent a significant time in the last three years learning from the very bests (Kujo Painting, Painting Budha, Massive Voodoo, Flameon Miniture, Gareth Nicolas, JBT, 'Eavy Metal, Angel Giraldez and many more). I hope I can transmit some of this knowledge to you guys and learn even more from you.
Let's see where this will bring us ...
